Poor blogger is poor

So I've not been updating much. I am super broke, beyond broke. I have 9p in my bank account for the foreseeable future and therefore I haven't been buying many things or trying many things out :( Trying to get back into my freebies so if I get any I shall let you all know. Blog is gonna be pretty bare apart from that until I get a job and can try things out. Oh, had my college interview last week so fingers crossed for that!!

Love my postman today!

Got a few wee goodies in the post today so Mr Postman, you are my pal today :)

So I don't actually remember requesting this freebie but I must have as they sent me it! It's Smashbox's Photo Finish Luminizing Foundation Primer. I've never used a primer before, I rarely use foundation to be honest so I wasn't too fussed when I saw this fall out the envelope. Thought I'd give it a wee go anyway, just on my hand today, will use it on my face fully another day.
I'll be honest, I wasn't really expecting anything from this. Having never used a primer before I didn't know if this was going to be good or not. I'm usually skeptical of any kind of foundations, bronzer, etc as my skin is really pale, when I try things, I just turn orange. That's never a good look!
As soon as I started blending it, I loved it! It became so creamy and silky, blended in lovely! I thought it was a bit too dark for me but once I blended it in fully, it looked fantastic!

A lot of blending up there! ^
Look at the lovely finish this leaves! I can't wait to try this with foundation to see what kind of finish I get then. I'm not going to rush out and buy this but maybe if I start wearing foundation more regularly, I might buy this or have a look around at other brands.

Do you use a primer? If so what kind?

Garnier Intensive 7days Challenge

I've been waiting a while for this wee gem! As soon as I got the email about it, I wanted to try it. My skin isn't the best, especially on my legs, it's rough, dry and flaky so this is right up my street! I'll be starting this tomorrow and will document my week, see how it goes. Inside you get 7 6ml sachets of Garnier's Ultra Softening Lotion with Shea Butter, 2 Skin Readers to be used before your first application and 2 hours after you last to check the results. There is plenty of information on the packaging as well as numbers to call for advice or if you have any questions.
You are also given their website and if you tell them how your week went using the product you could win one of the 100 magazine subscriptions they have to give away.

And to finish, my last goodie in the post. How fabulous are these?! 25p from ebay!

FOTD; Freebie Of The Day

I took an old mascara, that I'm sure I bought in Superdrug for about £1.49, into the Clinique counter at my local Debenhams and was presented with this lovely little tube, Clinique High Impact Mascara. It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be which I'm pleased about, I knew it wouldn't be a full sized tube but I don't wear makeup all that much right now so it's perfect!

Not given it a go yet but I will tomorrow and stick a wee review up then and if anyone would like to swap their old or used up mascaras for one, this offer is running until May 20th. No other purchase is necessary, so go grab a nice wee freebie and get rid of an old mascara you don't use! :)

It has been a while!

So I haven't been around for over a month now, I've been jobhunting, not having any money to buy myself beauty treats and not really been feeling like making much of an effort with my hair/makeup/exercise etc :(

Still on the jobhunt but my will to better myself is reappearing which is always nice! Due to extreme brokeness, the only beauty products I've been getting have been freebies or very cheap things on ebay every now and then. Exercise really needs to begin soon, like tonight, as nothing is going to change unless I do it. So I need to get up off my ass and change what I want to change. Just Dance here I come!

Got a job interview on Friday and it's for the Dominos that is literally across the road from me, how handy! Also got an interview for college on the 31st. Kinda pinning a lot of hopes on that, which I know I shouldn't but I'd really love to go.

So this hasn't been much of a beauty filled post and I know I said I'd stick to beauty so from now on I will, just wanted to fill people in!

Now to jump to the beauty have a picture of me wearing make up last night for the first time in a few weeks!

Oooh hello freebie

I do love a freebie, especially in the post! So I was delighted when this little beauty popped through the letterbox.

I love using scrubs but often find them very harsh on my skin, so I will give this a go and hope for the best!

I don't usually do these but the more I get on top of everything, the more time I plan for wee outfits and stuff. So I'll hopefully be posting more of these!
This was a few days ago, I love this dress and love when it gets to summer and I can wear it!

Hello

Sorry for being absent, I haven't had anything beauty related to post and I'd like to keep this blog for just that. I have enough places to vent my problems that I'd like somewhere that isn't for that!

Just a quick note to say my mood is rather low, I'm trying to fix it and I'll be back on track soon. So to cheer myself up right now (as it's currently 5.55am and I'm wide awake) have a picture of me and one of my wrestling heroes, Mr Mick Foley.

This was at the first date of his comedy tour, to which Mr Foley himself gave me complimentary tickets! I was a very happy bunny this day! It was such a good night, all the guys were hilarious and I didn't stop laughing from start to finish! I'll definitely be seeing Mick next time he's over for another comedy tour!

I would really like to change my url, as much as I enjoy it's wittyness, it isn't really anything to do with the content of this blog. If you can think of anything else, please let me know as I am rubbish at these kinds of things.

Won my first giveaway!

The first one I've ever entered as well so I'm quite chuffed. It was run by the lovely Maria and I have won an adorable pair of ladybug earrings and a lovely wee pair of flowery earrings. I'll get some pictures up once I get them in the post. I've been in a foul mood all day so this has cheered me up quite a bit. As well as chupa chups! Hope you are all good and had lovely weekends!

Free samples!

At my mums house just now and she always buys Glamour, Company etc but never uses the free samples. So I'm taking them home! ;)

I've got Perfection Lumiere foundation by Chanel, 2 samples of Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation and a wash & mask cleanser from the big skincare mystery. According the magazine it was revealed on the 1st so when I get back to my computer I'll need to have a look and see what it was.

Looking forward to trying the cleanser but no doubt the foundation will be too dark for my milk bottle skin!

What samples have you tried recently? Yays or nays?

Alana must behave!

I'm trying to be very good just now and not buy anything that is not necessary, money is extremely tight right now. Hoping to get a job as soon as I can then I won't feel bad about myself wee things every now and then.

Been keeping it simple on the nail front. I found Sally Hensen Maximum Growth in Poundland a week or so ago, I couldn't resist buying it. Especially when my friend who works for Avon was going to get me it for a lot more pennies! So I've been cooling it on the nail front and just applying this, my nails are already looking much healthier! I love the wee sheen it gives them and they feel lovely!

Not my picture as it's too dark to try and use my webcam but just to give you a rough idea of what it looks like in case you rush out and get some!
I really do love this stuff. I usually hate 'naked nails' as I don't like my fingers/hands very much but the more I use this and shape my nails etc, the more I don't mind them as much as I used to.

Poundland you evil minx you!

I really need to stay away from Poundland. Well maybe one day...
These are todays purchases. Eyeshadow, blusher, lipstick, another cuticle care stick and a roll on blemish killer(?). All in all, not bad for a fiver I'd say!

Lovely wee Rimmel shadow, it's called Celestial Sapphire from the Glam Eyes range. I love the quilted pattern and the wee crown, so cute that I'll probably hate using it and spoiling it! I do love my blue shadows though so it's nice knowing I have this lovely shade should I need it.
I'm not usually a big fan of blusher as I'm so pale but I thought I could at least try it out. What with spring/summer coming up, my face should get a bit more colour to it so a wee pale pink blush might look nice on that.
The cuticle stick, I won't be able to try out until I soak my nails off, got some false ones in the post from ebay and couldn't resist putting them on! I've never done it before so it wasn't a fantastic job but it was nice to see what they looked like on and get used to them.
The blemish stick, I love already. Smells great and tried it on a spot that has taken my face hostage, it goes on really nice then dries up quite quickly so I'm hoping it dries it up and it goes away asap!

Monday madness!

Got a few things delivered from ebay and bought a few things too.

The lashes and gel eyeliner are from ebay. The liner has a MAC logo on it but it wasn't advertised as MAC on the site. It cost 99p so its either a bargain find or a fake!
The lashes look lovely! Nice and natural, not too over the top.

The lipgloss duo is from poundland, can you guess how much it cost? Haha. It's called spice coral. I've tried the colour side, its not too thick but goes on nicely. Gives a nice wee shine and feels really nice on too.

The orange tube is a nail and cuticle scrub pen, also from poundland. This is me trying to get my nails in a good, healthy condition. Well its a start!

The band and comb were a set from, you guessed it! Poundland! I needed a wide toothed comb so thought this looked perfect!

Have you bought any goodies today?

Monday nails

My friend Michaela did my nails for me on Monday night. I can't wait for all my false nail stuff to arrive, I hate them all being different sizes!

I only have my nail glue and nail cutters so its a start I suppose. Just need everything else too!

Gifts

My mum was in New York for a wee while and she brought me back these. I love them!

New nail polish

Picked these four polishes up during the week. Both Technic polishes are from Bodycare, the pink crackle was £1.99 and the glitter polish was 99p.
The N.Y.C ones are from Superdrug, two for £2.49.

The pink crackle polish, I tried this on top of the orange N.Y.C polish (#221 Spring Street) and was very disappointed. So much so that I stuck black crackle over it to cover it up. I'll get a black polish and see if its any better.

Haven't tried the glitter polish yet but my three year old had and she loves it! Haha.

Now the N.Y.C polishes. I love them! The long brushes, even coverage and the selection of colours. I'll definitely be purchasing from this range again!

Beautiful!

Wee cover up job as the pink crackle ruined it!

Have you bought any new polishes this week? What range is your favourite?

Wee Sunday night out

My favourite local band has started playing again in my favourite pub. This makes me very happy!

Decided to change my nails up to go see them, different base polish this time. Still loving crackle though (bit behind on the times). It was a rush job so excuse the crapness. I'll get better one day.

Hope you all had lovely Sundays as well!

My nails

Decided I was going to sit and do my nails. They are in awful condition but I don't have the money to get a manicure and nice ones put on so a wee lick of polish is an improvement on them bare.

I've had both these for a wee while and never thought to try them together. I'm always using dark polish which in hindsight is rather silly!
Anyway the polish on the left, Miss Beauty, don't quote me as I can't remember for certain, was bought in Wilkinsons for a few pound at the most.

It's a tad watery but two thin layers and you get a really good colour. Nice and solid with mega shine!

It dries really quickly as well. Since buying this polish I've been really impressed.

Next was the Collection 2000 Nail Smash Top Coat. Again I think bought out of Wilkinsons for a few pound. I love Collection 2000! It's affordable and any makeup I've bought made by them has been nice and airy, not clogged up my skin.

I'm rather impressed with the end result if I'm honest. I'd be happier if my nails were a bit longer and nicer shaped but one step at a time!

My three year was also impressed and made me do her nails too! (The black lines on her face are whiskers because she's a cat today apparently).

False eyelashes and I

I'd never worn false eyelashes until new year just past. Didn't think they looked that bad!

So I decided to buy some off eBay to see if new year was a fluke or if I do actually like them. It was 99p for two pairs so I wasn't expecting the best quality but they will do for trying out :)

I don't really like the look of the top ones so on my next night out I'll give the bottom ones ago. Who knows when that will be though!

Flipped them over to show how long they are, quite! Think after these ones I'll buy more natural looking ones. Although I do love some of the extravagant lashes out there!

Where do you buy your lashes? What glue do you use? And any tips for applying?

Avid ebayer

I do love a good ebay bargain! Expecting some more things soon but this came today. In case you can't tell from my url, I love Star Wars :)

I sometimes forget I've bought stuff then get a wee surprise when my postman knocks the door. He's the cheeriest guy ever, it's great!

My hair

Over the years I have dyed my hair way too much! I'm now giving it a rest, letting my natural hair grow through and get healthier! Any tips, advice etc is very welcome!

For now I use the Aussie 3 minute wonder once a work and Alberto Balsam for washing/conditioning.

This is what my hair looks like now (also hello to my face). It's black which is ever so slowly coming out and becoming brown/red/blonde with a blue fringe. The blue is coming out as well, turning green/ blonde. I don't know if I should strip the colour or let my hair do it itself...

My long term goal hairwise is for it to be long, shiny and healthy. Colour undecided.

My introductory rambling

I'm sick of telling myself I'm going to start treating myself better then not doing anything about it. This time I am. Losing weight, eating better, giving up smoking, moisturising, saving up and buying myself the things I would like. I am a mother but I'm also me, I'd like to remember what she's like. So welcome to the documentation of my journey to remember and better myself. Bear with me while I get the hang of this website.
